Tokyo Neon Lights

Tokyo is a mesmerizing blend of ultramodern neon and ancient tradition. Three days isn't nearly enough to see it all, but it is enough to experience the highlights. Here is the perfect itinerary.

schedule Day 1 (Full Day)

Day 1: Tradition meets Trend

Start in Asakusa, home to the famous Senso-ji Temple. Arrive early to beat the crowds and browse the traditional Nakamise shopping street. In the afternoon, take the subway to Harajuku to witness the unique street fashion, stroll down Takeshita Street, and find peace at the nearby Meiji Shrine nestled in a massive forest.

schedule Day 2 (Full Day)

Day 2: City Lights and Seafood

Begin your morning with fresh sushi near the outer market of Tsukiji. Then, explore the high-end shopping district of Ginza. As evening approaches, head to Shibuya. Experience the organized chaos of the Shibuya Crossing and grab dinner in one of the many izakayas hidden in the narrow alleys.

schedule Day 3 (Full Day)

Day 3: Tech, Anime, and Views

Dive into Akihabara, the epicenter of anime, manga, and electronics. Spend a few hours exploring the multi-story arcades. Later, head to Shinjuku. Visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for a free observation deck offering sweeping views of the city (and Mt. Fuji on a clear day), before ending your trip in the atmospheric Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane).
